Lots more news

29 May 2015 08:32

We recently went to a show with our very own pony club! Very well done to everyone who competed as they all did very well.

We also recently found out that our new horse is pregnant! We are expecting a foal quite soon so we are all very excited! Any name suggestions for the new/pregnant mare would be very much appreciated.

Also we are all very excited about a little pony called Tiny who is still on trial. It is looking very hopeful for her!

8/6/15.The AFRC had a very succesfull day at yesterday’s one day event at Eridge park.It was the first time that the AFRC had its own teams competing at a pony club competition and both teams came in the ribbons.Individually ,Rosina and Stefie came 4th,but very well done to Flo,Maisy and Lucy with Benny,Pie and DJ respectively.

Gertie, our new coloured mare who surprisingly was found to be in foal,is doing very well but we have no idea when the foal is due.Our new little pony ,Tiny,is progressing very well, she will be very popular with our very young riders, she should be ready to be licenced by the end of the summer.

All our other riding school horses are doing well and are looking  good. It has been a very busy season so far and some of the older horses are feeling a bit tired. So the AFRC is looking for a couple of new mid size horses to join out team of horses and maybe one or 2 ponies for our younger riders.

News now from the Anderida stud. The very sad news that came as a total surprise,is that Biba Mc Call has last week told us that she has decided  to call it a day as a professsional show jumper. She was finding it so very difficult to compete at the highest level of the sport. All of us at the AFRC,wish Biba all the very best luck at whatever path and career she now decides to pursue. We are very gratefull at the really excellent and outstanding work she did with Askadora,Diablo and Queretta. I feel its such a shame that having done all the hard work braking them in and producing them so nicely, she wont now be able to enjoy the fruit of her work.Once again,we respect Biba’s decision ans wish her all the very best.

Having spoken to Biba and Brian Lear whose advise i always seek regarding sporting issues regarding my SJ’s,i have now contacted the 2 riders who i think would be most suitable for the horses.I await to see if and when they can take them on.However with 2 months to go till the Addington young horse championship in August ,time is becoming an issue as the 3 horses are short of jumping experience. We will see what happens.

On the very positive side,Sarah Hall ,who has been riding the 3 horses at home has really done an outstanding work so far and A,D and Q’s flatwork is really impressive for 4 yo horses. As Sarah is herself a hugely experienced dressage rider,it can only get better so at least when the horses go to their new sj riders ,their flatwork will be very good.Askadora recently went to her first dressage show at Oldencraig, won her class and has now qualified for the Albion Young horse show at Badmington on 29/7/15.
